Adam Cwalina is no stranger to winning International challenge tournaments. A host of victories with former partners Wacha & Logosz were routine from 2010 to 2016 with the Poles being almost unbeatable on the circuit during that period. Today Cwalina got his first win with his most recent partner Milosz Bochat and this win was as sweet as the first all those years ago.

The Poles preparation had been less than ideal with Bochat suffering with a virus after the world championships. The pair came into this week’s tournament with little or no practise and walked home with the win without dropping a set all week.

In today’s final young English pair Ben Lane and Sean Vendy pushed the Poles as hard as they have been pushed all week but Cwalina and Bochat’s all-out attacking style was just too much for the English to cope with on this occasion.

“This is a great feeling to win with Milosz” said Cwalina after the victory. “It is as sweet as the very first as our preparation was not so good.”

“To win my first tournament is a great feeling. I hope now to keep working and learning with Michal Logosz as our coach as Adam wants to go to LA Olympics not just Tokyo.” said Bochat

Yigit completes hat trick

It has been a wonderful few months for Neslihan Yigit. A win in Greece was followed by success in Bulgaria and the Turk completed her tournament hat trick winning the Czech Open women’s singles this afternoon in Brno.

Yigit (pictured above after the podium ceremony) has been in inspiring form which was evident in her early tournament wins over Mariya Mitsova and Mette Poulsen. The tall Turk was taken to three games in the longest match of the five finals eventually coming through 21-17 against Kaho Funahashi of Japan.

Alexandra Boje got the perfect send off to the world Junior championships next week as she partnered Mathias Bay-Smidt to the mixed doubles title. The Danes won in Prague last year coming through qualification and this year had to come back from 12-5 down in the deciding game against Palermo and Kersaudy of France to go back to back in Czech Republic.

“Czech is a good place for us obviously. We had good memories from winning last year and it is good to do it again” said Boje.

“We knew in the deciding set we just needed as many points as we could before the change of end as there was a fast wind in the hall. So even when we were so far behind we knew we could come back and we could see the French beginning to panic a little.”

Japan sealed both the men’s singles as women’s doubles with Kento Momota dominating as expected. Honda and Shimizu lifted the women’s doubles title in the very last match of the evening beating defending champions Lauren Smith and Sarah Walker in three games.
