Live badminton from the VICTOR Ukraine Open 2022 in Kyiv, Ukraine takes place 27-30 January. Here is how to watch the matches live.

In 2021, the Ukraine International saw a young home-grown sensation, Polina Buhrova, take the title in September, just months after winning the Ukraine Junior. Can the BEC Young Player of the Year nominee continue her good form on home soil and take the Ukraine Open title?

Champions from Ukraine International 2021:
MS: Priyanshu Rajawat (IND)
WS: Polina Buhrova (UKR)
MD: Junaidi Arif/ Muhammad Haikal (MAS)
WD: Stine Küspert/ Emma Moszczynski (GER)
XD: Yap Roy King/ Valeree Siow (MAS)

This year
The draws this year have been changed significantly due to withdrawals, granting golden opportunities to many talents in Kyiv.

France’s Christo Popov returns to action after the disappointment of having to return from the World Championships in Huelva before Christmas due to self-imposed safety precautions around a close contact. He is likely to be raring to get 2022 off to winning ways and add to the senior title he won at the end of 2019 in Milan, Italy.

Malaysia had a successful outing in Ukraine last year and in the men’s singles they have a handful of contenders, namely Kok Jing Hong who will be looking to make it three back-to-back finals in January.

Similarly, Malaysia presents a strong lineup in the men’s doubles, namely Chia Weijie/ Low Hang Yee who narrowly missed out on the Swedish Open title last week. However, a big threat to their title hopes this week come in the form of Danes Mads Vestergaard/ Emil Lauritzen who claimed two titles out of their impressive three finals together in 2021.

In the mixed doubles, it is Germany who is out in force, with five live pairs in the mix. Number one seeds Patrick Scheiel/ Franziska Volkmann, Johannes Pistorius/ Emma Moszczynski, the latter won the women’s doubles at the Ukraine International 2021, the experienced Jones Ralf Jansen/ Linda Efler, Jan Colin Volker/ Stine Kuespert and Marvin Datko/ Leana Michalski are all exciting partnerships who may well make up much of the podium on Sunday.
